Pinwheels for Peace 2009! |
A great day on the front lawn at RJ Richey on September 21st!
Over 400 pinwheels were planted in a big green heart and shared during our Pinwheels for Peace performance in celebration of the International Day of Peace.
Students brainstormed words of Peace which they added to their individual works of art.
Watch for our Artsonia Gallery featuring our masterpieces sharing Peace with others.

Lessons from the Cave... from May 2008! |
Check out this Glog! Made using Glogster, this poster is a way to share what we learned with our study of Cave-Art. We filmed short movie clips using our Flip Video Camera, and I uploaded it to Glogster to create this example.

We love ART!
The students in 4th and 5th grade are experiencing a wide range of media, techniques and concepts this year. Our goal is to understand the language of Art by building our knowledge of the important Elements of Art and Principles of Design. We will also learn about artists, periods, and styles while connecting our learning to themes focused on ourselves, our community and the world.
We will be inspired to create!

Where there is peace, there is culture; where there is culture, there is peace.
~Nicholas Roerich
Positive creativeness is the fundamental quality of the human spirit. Let us welcome all those who, surmounting personal difficulties, propel their spirits to the task of peaceBuilding, thus ensuring a radiant future.

Artsonia and VoiceThread permission form |
All students are asked to return this permission form with signatures in both sections. This gives us permission to upload artwork to Artsonia, the online art museum ( artsonia.com )In addition, it gives us permission to upload our voice recordings to VoiceThread, a fantastic online tool for interactive slide show presentations. The voice recordings will be of monologues, commentaries, critiques and poetry about art and music. It is a safe way to create interactive learning tools. |

K-5 Exemplar of Elementary Art Instruction |
This document is here for you to see the variety of work a student should experience in Art from Kindergarten through 5th grade. This is an example. Art educators follow the TEKS for Visual Arts, the National Content Standards for the Visual Arts, as well as cross-curricular TEKS for each grade-level. It is about process not product, giving students an opportunity to experience sequentially-based, differentiated and authentic instruction in visual art. |
