TEC Bill 25.0951 states specifically about missing 10 or more days or parts of a day within a 6 month period WITHOUT a proper excuse. This includes parents picking up their children early or children who are not in class when the 8:00 bell rings. We will be keeping record of all students who fall into this category and will take the appropriate action needed if the time comes. Both student and parent can be held criminally responsible due to this being a truancy issue. We would appreciate your help in having students remain in class from 8:00 a.m. until 3:20 p.m.

The car rider bell rings each day at 3:20. It takes the students about five minutes to get lined up in the hallway and ready to dismiss.

• Please pull into the drive up in single file.
• Please do not pass other cars unless you are coming into the building for some other reason.
• Please do not park and get out and get your child from the car rider line. This slows things for everyone else and poses a serious danger with parents and students crossing through traffic.
• Post your child’s name in your window or tell the teacher the name when she comes to your car. (a sign is really fastest!)
• Pull forward to the end of the drive to pick up your child.
When you have your child please be considerate of others and check papers and notes after you leave the line, also try not to pull out behind others while they are getting their child buckled and ready to go.

RJ Richey would like to encourage all of our students to strive for great attendance this school year. Attendance in Texas is mandatory by state law. If your child misses a day of school for any reason – please send a note to school with him/her the first day he/she returns. We are required by the state to retain the notes on file for truancy reasons. Please feel free to take care of this via e-mail if necessary.
