Thank you so much for your help and support getting our school year off to a positive start.
As we continue to work together to make our students (your children) safe and successful we are implementing a new elementary school policy district wide. Beginning Monday, October 26, 2009, we will not be accepting any transportation changes (via phone, fax or in person) or signing out children after 2:30p.m. The end of the day is very busy for schools. We are delivering notes and getting dismissal procedures together.
We know that emergencies arise and doctor’s appointments must be scheduled and we understand. We ask that if you have a doctor’s appointment please bring a note back to school the next day. Students who come in late and/or check out early (anytime during the day) will be counted as attending a “partial day of school”. Three partial days are equal to one absence. Students will be required to stay after school and make up work that has been missed.
Research supports the unquestionable link between attendance and student achievement. It is well known that a most important key to children’s academic success is having them attend school on a regular basis. We know there are some absences that are unavoidable, but taking students out of school unnecessarily is disruptive to learning.
