BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE, THEN REACH HIGHER!
BURNET HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOG BAND
The Bulldog Band has been in existence since the early 1930's. In recent years the band has earned a reputation representative of the school motto; "Spirit, Pride & Honor!" During the fall the Bulldog Band combines with the Highlandettes Dance Team to form the BHS Esprit de Corps (EDC). The EDC performs at football games, marching competitions, parades and many other public venues. The EDC has earned "Superior" ratings for the last 18 years in a row, advancing to UIL Area Marching contest 9 times, and the State Marching Contest 4 times, qualifying for the State Finals in 2008. In 1998 Burnet was crowned Regional Champion in Division 1 at the Bands of America Southwest Regional Championship in the AlamoDome. The Esprit de Corps has performed 5 times at Disney World in Florida, as well as all over the state of Texas and in Colorado.

The theme for the 2009 show is "The Music of STYX." This rock group from the 70's produced some of the most memorable songs from that era. Selections for the show include MR. ROBOTO, A.D. 1928/ROCKIN' THE PARADISE, COME SAIL AWAY, and TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS.
The Esprit de Corps will compete in several contests this fall. Our first contest will be the Esprit de Corps Marching Festival here in Burnet on Sept 26. We will perform in exhibition. Next is the Hill Country Marching Festival in Fredericksburg on Oct 3rd. On Oct 10th we will compete in the Gatesville Marching Festival. Finally on Oct 17th we compete in the Region 18/26 UIL Marching Contest in Georgetown. We invite all of our fans, friends and parents to follow us to all of these performances.

Directors for the Bulldog Band are Mike Lewis, Roger Williams, Darcy Williams, and Dusty Rhea. Director for the Highlandettes Drill Team is Caity Robertson.

Check our calendar from time to time for pertinent information about practices and performances.
BHS ESPRIT DE CORPS MAKES THE FINALS AT UIL TEXAS STATE MARCHING BAND COMPETITION!
For the 1st time in school history the BHS Esprit de Corps earned a birth in the finals of the Texas State Marching Band Contest. The event which was held on Monday, Nov. 3rd at the AlamoDome in San Antonio showcases the 20 best marching bands in the state. Burnet advanced to the finals along with Argyle, Canton, Rio Hondo, New Boston, Atlanta and Princeton.
Burnet by far had the largest group in competition with 156 members. What a wonderful group of students to get to work with. It is a joy to showcase their talents. Our brass, woodwind and percussion sections were truly outstanding!
Once again the Highlandettes were our "Secret Weapon," distinguishing themselves from the traditional guards at the contest.
The theme for the 2008 Esprit de Corps' show is "Beethoven Masterworks." With 81 different sets of drill, this is the most challenging show Burnet has ever attempted.
We would especially like to thank our parents, the administration, teachers and staff in the Burnet CISD, students, and the folks in our community for their support and encouragement. It was incredible looking up into the stands at the AlamoDome and seeing a sea of green yelling for us. WOW! We are so lucky to live, work and learn in a community like Burnet!
