To be eligible for a GED class, a person must be 16 years old to study and 17 years old to take the tests. Exceptions are made for those court ordered to attend class. Results of the tests are good until the test form changes. For example, if a person took 3 of the 5 tests before 2001, he/she would have to start all over because the test was changed in 2001. Any tests taken after that time are still valid.
GED Content - Five tests: Reading or Literature, Social Studies, Science, Math, and Language Arts. The student must average 450 or better on each test, that is a total of 2250 points. Each test is specifically timed by the GED tester. Final tests are not scheduled to be given in Burnet at this time. If a student makes below 410 on a test, the test is not accepted and must be retaken. Retakes cannot be done for six months, so a study class is recommended before any of the final tests are taken. |
