8th B v. Llano |
The 8th grade B team played Llano this past Monday. The first game was a total domination by the Lady Pup team, winning 25-8. Kaela Jones did an excellent job of serving and helped build the massive lead in the first game. The second game was a little closer as the Llano girls picked up their game. The Lady Pups won with an ending score of 25-14. This gave Burnet the victory for the day. Both teams traded serves and battled for points. Ultimately the Lady Pups were victorious over Llano. The back line was key to the victories. Alex Perez, Riana Bond, Cheyenne King and Jalee Hill all played great back row, digging passes for our setters Jessica Rogers and Tristen Thompson. Ariella Horner, Ashley Brown, Shaylan Edwards and Brittany Shaver did an excellent job defending the net and hitting the ball. We could not have had a victory without a team effort and I am proud that we came together to win this game. Great game ladies! |

Liberty Hill Volleyball |
Last night the Lady Pups volleyball teams traveled to Liberty Hill for a marathon night. The 8th Grade “A” fell to Liberty Hill in three games. The first game I wish we could just forget, but maybe it was a blessing in disguise. The girls lost to Liberty Hill the first game by a score of 25-6. They came out and seemed to be playing scared, they got out of their game and pretty much just folded. The next game the team that I have come to love showed up. They came together as a team and started playing to win not just to lose. They were no longer afraid and saw themselves as worthy opponents. They won that game 25-20. This forced Liberty Hill into a third game. We wish the outcome would have been a little different but we lost 26-24.
I have never been more proud of these girls, they stepped up and worked as hard as they possibly could to get the job done. Even though the final score was not in our favor, the heart of an athlete was. These girls showed more heart than I have seen in quite a while. I feel that after last night, they now know what they can do and they will not have anymore 25-6 losses.
Each and every girls played outstanding defense. Again, I would like to recognize these young ladies: Mariah Qualls, Savannah Johnson, Kadie Jones, Shanel Waggoner, Shannon Fickle, Madeline Parker, Chelsey Lansford, Danielle Williams, Syndey Olson, Deniese Hawkins, Tristen Thompson, Morgan Perkins.
The Lady Pups will play Wimberly at home on Monday, Oct. 6 with games starting at 4:00.

The 8th Grade A Lady Pup volleyball team travelled to Ingram last Thursday. |
The girls had an absolutely awesome game.
Working the way they seem to like (under pressure) they lost the first game 25-20. They came back in a big way during the second behind the great serving of Shannon Fickle and Kadie Jones to win 25-23. The third game was led again with great serving by Chelsea Lansford and Shannon Fickle.
Defensively, the girls really stepped their game up. We have been working very hard on getting serves from other teams up and playable, their hard work paid off for them last night. Mariah Qualls and Sydney Olsen had some terrific hits that put the Warriors on their heals.
We stress each and every day the TEAM concept (Together Everyone Accomplishes More) and last night was a true testament of TEAM. The win was one in which everyone was a involved and every single member of the team was responsible.
I would like to once again mention the members of the A team: Mariah Qualls, Savannah Johnson, Kadie Jones, Shanel Waggoner, Shannon Fickle, Madeline Parker, Chelsea Lansford, Danielle Williams, Sydney Olsen, Deniese Hawkins, Tristen Thompson, Morgan Perkins

7th Grade B Team |
The 7th Grade B Team played great in the Texan Junior High Volleyball Tournament in Wimberley this past Saturday. The girls started out by dominating Miller Junior High in 2 games. They went on to play Elgin. With Kaylyn's dependable power arm and great serving by Mandi Cockrell, our team was unstoppable. In the final game against Navarro Junior High we were outscored in the first game. We took the second game 26-24 and were then outscored again in the 3rd game. Brittany Barksdale made several excellent spikes. The backrow threw themselves on the ground to receive every serve that came over. This was a very exciting tournament for our girls and even caused those who were trying to listen to the U.T - O.U. game to take pause and watch the girls play :-). The girls took 2nd place at the tournament. Please congratulate: Brittany Barksdale, Sara Dickehut, Kaylyn Drake, Hanna Hazlewood, Mandee Harris, Mandi Cockrell, Hayli Copeland, Ryan Winkler, Landree Thompson, Jimena Lopez, Baylee Jones and Becca Davis. |
